Come back for Lyon daily blog ! After a period of holidays, you will find some new photos from my city.
Today I offer you a trip in the "Monts d'Or", at the north of Lyon. It is a very beautiful place and you find some famous institutions like Paul Bocuse's restaurant and the Museum of old cars called "Rochetaillée Castle". Those photos are dealing with some amators who certainly collect old cars, meet each other every sunday and take their car to participate in a sort of showroom in the museum. A beautiful collection, isn't it ?

This bridge will lead you to knowledge ! Actually, it is the bridge called "pont de l'université" (bridge of university) which is near the university of Lyon (human sciences) that you can see at the left. Built in 1896 to make the way to university easier, I think that it gives us a good view of those old schools behind it, and the river looks like a dark sea of ice...

Put on rails recently (less than 5 years), the tramway is a very convenient way to circulate into Lyon. Fast and clean, it is more agreeable than the subway...

It is a very wonderful church "oriental style" built at the end of the 19th century. I found those candles for prayers very beautiful so I decided to shot...

Hello, I am back from a terrific journey in Paris. I took some good photos but as my blog is not about Paris, you won't discover them here (maybe on my other blog... Soon !).

Today was a day dedicated to tourism in Lyon with my parents-in-law, who are japanese. they discovered all the good places in the "Vieux Lyon" and, of course, I suggested to have a break drinking something in a bar called "le Savannah", perhaps the best place to drink delicious fruits syrups (Place du gouvernement, 69005)... Perhaps one of the most famous people from Lyon ! This sculpture of Antoine de St Exupéry, writer of the 20th century and who wrote "Le petit prince", can be seen near "Place Bellecour". The writer is next to his favourite character. maybe they are waiting for... a sheep !

Do you know Ste Blandine ? It was, at the beginning of our time after the death of Jesus, one of the first martyr of the christian religion. She tried to preach Christianism to people and because of this, she died, being given to lions... to be eaten ! And this scene took place in lyon.

Nowadays, you can visit to famous places about her. First, you have the place where she certainly died, near the Croix-Rousse. It is an empty place, like those that we could find in roman amphitheatres. After that, you have this church, dedicated to Ste Blandine, behind the Perrache station. I like the first photo because the sun was exactcly behind the church and it gives a strange effect... Don't you think ?

In Lyon, we play "la boule lyonnaise". It is a game that consists in throwing a heavy bowl (more than 1 kilo) so as to reach a smaller one. You need to throw it with strengh and you use those bowls of the photos ! It is a very traditionnal game in Lyon, especially played by grandfathers !

The public transports didn't forget this and, as you can see, decided to take care of the buses , repairing it, washing it... This strange tower made of steel is near the Church of Fourvière. It is a real conpetition if you compare their highness and it was a scandal when it was built because this tower, in reality used to broadcast tv programms, is higher than the church ! it is like if the Christian power undergone defeat face to the technic power...

Today I decide to offer you two pictures of our city so as to introduce you a service called Velo'V and which consists in offering a free service that allow you to use a bike in one of the several stations in the city.
You just have to register by the web and you receive a card that you insert in a limit and it's ok ! It is very convenient, as you can imagine, because you always can use a bike to go somewhere, whenever and wherever you want. The first hour is free, then you pay less than 1 euro for the hour after it... And it's ecological ! Many cities think about it now...
